I am looking for recommendations for video sets that teach defensive
moves and forms for the style of Pentjak-Silat. Yes, it is easy to find
them with a Google search, but before I purchase, I would like some
input from someone who practices this style, or know of the teacher on
the videos. thanks in advance.

We've produced about 30 videos archiving the de Thouars' Family System of
kuntao and silat. The material is primarily showing Willem de Thouars (Uncle
Bill) and his senior students, and Victor de Thouars' system of serak
through senior students.
We cover the basic forms; djurus, langkas, short drills, combinations and
how to adjust technique to the situation.
You're welcome to e-mail me with any questions- be sure to remove the
'SPOOF' from my address.

Hm, this is a hard one. It is hard to find silat videos which are
silat. THere are very few and those even are ahhhhhh, some kinda
sketchy. Steven Plinck has a good video out on Bukti Negara which i
have and it shows authentic moves but I think it shows more of the
basic techniques of the system.....which is fine. I hear Paul de
thouars started of with Sera which i hear from my instructor is a lot
more hardcore and effective. I hear (hear) that is all/ that bukti
negara is kind of a simplified form of sera. Also "secrets of harimau"
is a good video on real harimau silat you may enjoy. I have that one
too. On the website budo international under kali/escrima/phillipino
videos there is a silat video by ROb Dublin i think his name is that is
a student of cass magda and it appears to be genuine (there is a clip).
That is about the only real videos i can think of. A few that i would
recommend are the Dacascos videos which have some relation to the flow
of silat and are very enjoyable and useful/ and Rick hernandez video-i
love them. I hear the vee arnis videos too are really good. YOu can
look up martial arts video review and they have a website that reviews
like over 400 videos. Mainly, try not to buy something i would think
that waters down what you know or does things a totally different way.
