Cost of Karate

Hi all. I was wondering if someone could give me some advise. I am
looking into starting Karate training in the Syracuse, NY area. I have
found a particular school I like but I wanted to know how much is a
reasonable amount to pay. I have read in other places that the average
would be $40-$100 a month. Also, what is the general consensus on
contracts. The school I am looking at appears to charge about $100 a
month for unlimited classes and it looks as if you need to have at
least a one year contract. Does anyone know how that compares with
other schools on the Syracuse area? By the way, I love everything
about this school, but I obviously want to make sure that I am not
spending too much. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hi-
In my case when I was in Tae Kwon Do from 1968-1975 in Des Moines,
Iowa; I was paying $80/month. Now I'm taking Jeet Kune Do for
$40/month
from a man whose father was one of Bruce Lee's original students in
Oakland. My TKD was worth $80 but my teacher now should be charging
alot more. You need to find a friend who can help you judge the
quality of the
school.

You should also check out some of the Muay Thai and other Kickboxing
schools. IMHO there better than Karate, cheaper, and you don't have to pay
for belts, testing, etc.
